About

What is this website?

Rough Diagrams, by Dave Walker.

Rough: ‘Not fully worked out or including every detail’

Diagrams: ‘Simplified drawing showing the appearance, structure, or workings of something; a schematic representation’

Why another website?

I wanted a place to gather my drawings, currently dispersed in lots of places. Everything apart from my ecclesiastical and bicycle-themed work.

The new name means I can have branding on each cartoon that works for all the main social media platforms.

I’ve designed the format to be Instagram-friendly, something that most of my work up to now hasn’t been.

Why this name?

No one else was using it. And I like the idea of a work in progress, something approximate, not quite finished, still being worked on.

What kind of topics will you cover?

Whatever inspires me. Lightweight, or on more serious issues.

How often will new diagrams appear?

I’m aiming for two a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. But there may be extras, and I won’t be beating myself up if I miss one.

How can I support this project?

If you like the diagrams you can buy a t-shirt! There are a few designs available now, and more to come.

Apart from that, for the time being, signing up for the newsletter and following and sharing (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest) are the best things.

I have more plans for the New Year (Phase III, we’ll call it).

Will the diagrams all be new?

No. A mixture of new material and remixed old ones.

Who are you?

I’m a cartoonist and illustrator, based in Essex UK (just to the east of London).

Can I post a diagram on my website / blog / Instagram?

See the Copyright page. If that doesn’t answer your question get in touch.
